Chiropractors focus on your MSK system and treat the bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, joints and connective tissues that you use every day. The MSK system supports your weight, provides physical stability, enables you to move your body, and protects your vital organs. Your MSK system connects directly to other vital systems in your body, which is why medical professionals, researchers and the health community at large trust the spine care expertise of chiropractors to assess, diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) and injuries. For optimal health and quality of life, a chiropractor should be part of every Canadian’s healthcare team.

Osteopathy is a hands on manual assessment and adjustment of the tissues that make up your musculoskeletal framework. It is non-invasive, drug free, gentle, and accessible to nearly all individuals, regardless of age or ability.

Osteopathy is also a skill, mindset and thought process. Its foundation is the axiom that the body is a self-regulating, self-healing dynamic unit of function. All parts and systems of the body are interconnected and interdependent on the others. An Osteopathic Manual Practitioner uses their hands to assess structures such as bones, muscles, fascia and joints, and using their extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, interprets the position, mobility and quality of these components. Adjustments are made to improve the flow of blood, lymphatics and nerve impulses; improving the qualities of circulation, mobility and constitution. Successful osteopathic treatment can lead to a reduction of restricted mobility, stiffness and pain.

An Osteopathic Manual Practitioner endeavours to find and treat the source of pain or altered function in a person’s body; it is not simply a matter of treating symptoms. Often clients seeking help from an OMP will have already tried other modalities of therapy, but can feel like the root of the problem still persists. It is here that the osteopathic philosophy can be applied in therapy to help discover the source of dysfunction.

Michael holds a Master of Practice Diploma in Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences, earned through the four year program at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton, Ontario. A new resident to Victoria and British Columbia, he is excited to welcome new patients into his practice and begin working in and serving the local community.

As a graduate of Hamilton’s prestigious Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, Michael spent four years earning his Master of Practice Diploma in Osteopathic Manipulative sciences (M.OMSc), and is a certified member of OsteopathyBC. An extensive and comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology is the cornerstone to his application of osteopathic principles and treatments for clients.

Having suffered an array of injuries and trauma to his body over the years, including a broken back, hernia and multiple concussions and surgeries, Michael’s journey of recovery back to health was marked by many setbacks. It was on this journey that he was introduced to Osteopathy as a modality for full body healing, and its potential for affecting the body’s ability to heal and restore itself from injuries. Once his body had been properly realigned and given the chance to reset and heal, the progress was remarkable. Literally transformed by his experience, the decision was made to pursue Osteopathy as a career.

Drawing from his life experiences, Michael has a deep rooted sense of empathy towards those living in pain and discomfort, and seeks to help others on their road to rehabilitation. As an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, Michael works as a facilitator to help unlock the body’s amazing capacity to heal and regulate itself, and fully believes in the connection between mind, heart and body.
